Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psalm 62:1–2, NKJV
When our eyes are focused on Christ, we find that our souls can rest. Sin is a driver for so many, even those who seek to be faithful. It creates shame and can cause us to lose sight of Christ as the lies of the deceiver fill our ears. God calls us to rest in Him and find confidence in the salvation He gives us. As we let go of the burdens of sin and realize the full defense of our Lord, we find He never lets us go. He never relents. He never gives up. He continues to hold on +to His chosen, and with our eyes focused on Him, the things that keep us wrapped up in a never-ending cycle of more lose their power, and we may find ourselves with a greater sense of peace and less fear. He quiets the noise that disturbs our peace and gives us the soothing sounds of His peaceful care. He replaces our songs of regret with hymns of praise. He holds us steady as we continue our journey and leads us safely into His eternal peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
