1 John 3:24

Now the one who keeps His commandments remains in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He remains in us, through the Spirit whom He has given us.

1 John 3:24, MEV

The Holy Spirit is a palpable presence in the life of a Christian. He is that voice in your head and that feeling of guidance. He isn’t the same for each and every follower of Christ, but He guides us in prayer and leads us away from doing those things that are against God. When we sin, He makes us aware and leads us to repent and know His forgiveness. The power of the Holy Spirit isn’t just in the outward acts that can be seen at work through His working through us, but in the changes of how we live and how we act. This is through our love, our service, and our humble compassion. Like David’s songs calming the spirit of King Saul, the Holy Spirit may calm the angriest of spirits and soften the hardest of hearts, bringing them into the saving promises of Christ.  We are called to follow the will of the Father and seek to keep His commands, “To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself.” When we are guided by the Holy Spirit, we know His peace and may carry it to others who are struggling through the spirit He gives us.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
