But you will not go out in haste, Nor will you go as those who flee; For Yahweh will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Isaiah 52:12, LSB

God is our protector and shield, and He leads His own to safety. This is His promise. We, as followers of Christ, can find great hope and certainty in the final outcome of the spiritual battle that rages in our Creation. We are called to faithfulness as He reveals to us in His Word the final plans for us all. Let us stand firm in what is proclaimed to all of us as His own and we find all that has been fulfilled in Christ Jesus and what is still awaiting us when He returns. We will face struggles caused by those who fight against the faith. We have seen witness in the Word of the persecution and can be certain that as the time of our Lord nears more persecution will come, but our Lord calls us to steadfast devotion to His Word and His ways. We are called not to fear nor lose hope. The struggles we will face will only be a short time compared to the eternity that awaits us as we remain faithful. As we suffer, we know our Lord suffers with us and when we are unable to hold ourselves up, our Lord carries us. Throughout the Bible, we bear witness to our Lord’s providence for His people. His faithfulness remains as He calls us to Himself and desires for us to place all our hope in Him and know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
