If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14, NKJV

As followers of Christ, we are given the gift to pray for the restoration of the world. We are given a calling to pray for our communities, our regions, our nations, and to the ends of the earth. This is a blessing that we have, and for us to pray these prayers, we pray that those who wish to do wicked have the Holy Spirit move upon their hearts and lead them to the peace of our Lord. It is not our decision, nor is it the people for whom we pray for this to happen, but the moving of the Holy Spirit and God’s selective hand. We may find some who, for a moment, stop their wickedness only to later return to it. We may find others who are fully converted and give over their lives to the proclamation of the Gospel. Our calling is to pray and to continue to pray. God chose the people of Israel and this is for whom God is speaking of to Solomon. In Christ, we have been cleaved into this promise, let us be an instrument of our Lord’s peace in the world and let us pray that more and more who wish to bring chaos have their hearts changed and enter into God’s peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
