“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.”
Matthew 24:45–46, ESV
Sometimes it can seem like none of what we do in faith really matters. We turn on the news or open a newspaper or magazine, and find so much bad going on in the world. God calls us to hold on and keep going. We are not to become discouraged, but rest in His certainty. We know that Christ will return and that all that we see in the world will be different. Until then, we are called to hold fast to the truth. Jesus lived and died for us and for those who sometimes make us feel this frustration. As we walk with our Lord and journey together with other faithful followers of Christ, let His light be our guide, and the hope that He gives be the one thing that buoys our spirits as we are guided by the Holy Spirit. When we are tired, rest in Him. When we need to weep, feel His embrace as we pour out our pain. Jesus knows it all and walks with us in our journey and desires for all to come and know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
