Now I rejoice in my sufferings on your behalf, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church.

Colossians 1:24, EHV

How can one rejoice in suffering? When we stand up for the faith, we know is true and we do not step away from the truth even when it is uncomfortable, it may cause us to suffer in a very real sense. Over the past few years, we have seen the cost that many families have paid over different political stances and the reality is that when we truly stand up for the faith we hold in Jesus Christ that is biblically ground and upholds the traditions that have arisen from the Word, we will lose relationships because there will be those that will place a higher value on what they believe is right according to the standards of the world. As Christians, suffering has been with us from the beginning and will continue and become even worse as we enter the latter days. We do not truly know when the day of our Lord’s return will be, but our Lord desires for us to be prepared to suffer on His behalf as we speak His truth into the world. We will suffer on account of the body of Christ and in His Church, we will proclaim the Gospel that sets those who are in bondage free in Christ and bind them in the Gospel. As we walk as bondservants to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we can walk in the freedom of the Truth and rejoice in our sufferings as we stand fully in His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
