But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart, but WHENEVER a person TURNS TO THE LORD, THE VEIL IS TAKEN AWAY.
2 Corinthians 3:15–16, LSB
When Jesus spoke those words, “It is finished!” and breathed His last, the veil of separation was torn. As we become caught up in reading the law from Moses, our eyes can become blinded to the blessing we received through Christ. We are not meant to be bogged down with the burden of our sin, nor are we to bind up others in feelings of guilt and shame. As we walk with Christ, we are sent to reflect His presence and share His mercy and grace to all we meet in the midst of their struggles. The words we are to share are words that carry with them keys to release them from their bondage as they cry to be set free or reveal to them the bondage that they are in so they may accept the forgiveness our Lord holds for them. We are not the arbiters of the Law, but the bearers of the Gospel as we carry out the promise into the world. The Law only helps us show the sin that others are within so we may offer them the Gospel of salvation from our Lord. We are called to remove the veil that covers the faces of so many and show them the loving Lord who stands before them. As we walk as His ambassadors, our calling is to reflect less of ourselves so others may see more of our Lord and Savior and that they may know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
