Proverbs 4:11–12

I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.

Proverbs 4:11–12, ESV

When we walk in the paths our Lord leads, He promises to keep our way clear and open. The issue is that we often find ourselves doing things our own way and becoming caught up in things that are not of God. We find our nature does not like to go in the ways of the Lord naturally. It’s like the trust exercise when you wear a blindfold and have another guide you. If you follow your instincts, you will often find yourself stumbling into things. Running would not be our first instinct in the situation, but if we were to submit fully to God’s guidance, we would find ourselves in places unimaginable because we would be released from our nature and led in His. It is hard for us to listen and to trust. Most of us have been betrayed and hurt by the things of this world, but God wants us to know He is not like the world. He desires to restore us all and bring us into a renewed creation and lead us into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
