1 Thessalonians 4:3a, ESV
Jesus’ sacrifice wasn’t for us to remain caught in judgment, nor was it for us to continue living in worldly ways. God desires for us to be cleansed and set apart, living under His will, leaving behind the ways others were caught up and living to His glory. The debauchery that is common in our world is contrary to His will. If left to our own devices, there would be little hope for us, but in Christ, we have been given a new life and in the Holy Spirit a better guide to carry us through the trials and tribulations we will feel. In Him, we have a voice that guides and directs us away from the things that He finds offensive. It is not His will to leave us lost and alone in the world, but to know His will and feel His protection from the onslaught that confronts us all. All this He does for us, so we may know and live in His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
