Proverbs 25:2

It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.

Proverbs 25:2, NLT

We like to think only of the revealed God, but the hiddenness of our Lord is what mystifies. This is why God isn’t always explainable. God does not owe us an explanation, nor does He need to justify Himself for us. Why won’t you heal me, Lord? Why did my loved one have to die? Why is there so much suffering? These are often the questions that are placed before our Lord, and why some say they have walked away from the faith. Is God accountable to us? Logically, most would realize how nonsensical this thought would be; however, in our emotions, we are rarely logical. As we are anointed through our baptism, we are claimed as children of God and are given the privilege to search out God, knowing that often He is hidden from us in this time, but one day all will be revealed, and we may fully know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
