A discerning heart acquires knowledge, and the ears of the wise seek knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15, EHV
One can never know too much. The greater the knowledge acquired, the better one may understand. How often do we witness the events that occur when someone acts on limited information? A little information twisted can create great disharmony. The same is true with limited sources of information. God desires for us to seek out truth. That is the importance of a discerning heart. As the adage goes, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t.” If we want to believe something too badly, we may ignore information that would lead us to believe otherwise. As we look to the greatest source of truth, God’s Word, we will view things through a different lens and find that what some see one way, our Lord reveals in another. God desires for us to know the truth, and He has shown much for us in His Word to help us see things and discern things more clearly. As we are guided by a heart that seeks after God’s heart and ears that desire to listen and take in, we will find that doors will open that were not seen and a peace that was never before felt.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
