He said to them, “I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Luke 10:18–19, MEV
As the seventy-two disciples sent out by Jesus returned, they told Him about all the wondrous things they accomplished. The people who came to God and those who were healed were great. Our Lord gives us the ability to do great things when we proclaim His glory to those who are dying. As followers of Christ, we are all commissioned to tell others about our Lord and His salvation. When we see those afflicted, we are given the gift of prayer, and in our prayers comes healing. Some may focus on the spectacular miracles more than the greatest miracle, the salvation received through Christ our Lord, which gains us entry into the gates of our Lord’s kingdom. Our faith is a faith that stands against all the evil of Satan and his minions. We are reminded by our Lord to not be afraid, but be bold in our proclamation. Stand firm in our faith. Be the ambassadors that will lead those who are seeking a way out into His glorious peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
