Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5, ESV
It can be hard to trust in God when it seems that so many in the world want to mock and minimize Him. They try to make it seem illogical and unintelligent to believe in God, and then to confess a faith in God incarnate, who was resurrected from the dead, it draws even further derision from those who wish to mock our Lord. God knows this about the sinfulness of our world. Hearts that are hardened against God are not easily softened. For those of us whom He has called, it is important for us not become distracted and be led into doubt by those who are trapped in disbelief. The power of our faith is not that we are kept strong in the faith through our own efforts, but it is the Holy Spirit who reveals our Lord to us and brings us into belief. As we walk in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are protected from disbelief, which can lead us into despair, and given the blessing of knowing Christ’s peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
