Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.
Luke 9:1, EHV
Jesus gives His followers the power to perform miracles. This is true. Yet, this power is given to us through Him and at His will, also. It’s not about our strong belief but about what is aligned with His will and to be utilized to show His glory. Jesus sent out the disciples on a mission to show God’s glory. They were sent out into communities to spread the Good News and bring healing and cast out demons to show the people God’s power. Each of the disciples was instructed in how they should enter every village and what they should carry. It was a humble mission. There was no show, just a simple promise of healing. We don’t hear about the “successes” of the mission, and no tally is kept, just that the Gospel was preached and people were healed everywhere. We are called to offer the same for our Lord. We can pray for the healing of all who come to us and proclaim the Gospel in the lives of those God places in our path. We are not to be called faith healers, nor is there anything that tells us we are to seek any notoriety or recognition; it is about the Gospel and setting those bound in sin free. We are called to be the bearers of God’s peace and point to the healing power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
