Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2, ESV
Through Christ and His sacrifice all who believe and trust in Him as Lord and Savior have been made holy. What does it mean to be holy? We have been set apart by God and for God. We are not supposed to look or act like everyone else. As followers of Christ, we are His ambassadors and are called to represent our Lord everywhere we go and in everything we do. In this statement, Paul is warning the Church because our nature is to blend in. After all, it is much safer as we enter places of other faiths. Many would rather be like a chameleon and not stick out as different. This is not our calling. Our calling is to shine out as being different. Not everyone will agree. There will be those who will cast us out and reject us, but our desire for acceptance is to be focused on one, Jesus Christ our Lord. We seek to please Him and Him alone as we walk out our faith and shine out into the world. Our calling isn’t to seek to offend but to enlighten. Offense is not within our power for those who are seeking to understand. If someone chooses to be offended, what power do we have over them? As we carry out the Christian faith into the world, the taste will be bitter as people realize their sin, but will become sweet as they receive His grace and know His love, and by this, they may know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
