Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, LSB

It is easy to become bogged down in the anxieties of life - the continuous drone of unanticipated failings can fill the mind and heavily burden our hearts. Yet, our Lord calls us to Himself in these times to be in conversation with Him as we lay our burdens upon Him. He desires for us to relinquish all our fears, doubts, and uncertainties and confess them to Him allowing Him to relieve us of the pressures and find our comfort in His promises. We are called to let go of the disappointments and seek out the blessings He has abundantly shared with us as we continually seek after His face and reach out for His hands in our times of struggle with the full assurance that He is there to catch us before we fall. The unvarnished love our Lord holds for us and the unequivocal love He has for us His chosen is where we are to rest and not walk in the hopeless malaise that we find as we become entangled in the morass of the world’s unintended failures. God desires for our eyes to be turned to Him as we remember His sacrifice and know His full forgiveness that was given in His unbridled desire for our redemption when He took upon Himself the scourge and the blight that was wrought upon Him as He took the punishment of the Cross so we may come to know His love and fully live in His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
