Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He is manifested, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

1 John 3:2–3, LSB

We await the fullness of Christ to break through in our lives. The struggle we have is that we are confronted with our sin and the sin that is around us. Temptations abound. This does not excuse us but calls us to be mindful of our weaknesses and pray. We will fall short and not always do what our Lord desires of us. Yet, our Lord Jesus Christ calls us. Because of this, we can trust in Him and when He comes in the fullness of His glory, we will know He is before us. We are warned that there will be many false christ’s that attempt to lead us away from the truth that saves us all. We are to be mindful of the Word of God and faithful to seek after our Lord and His will. As we walk closer to Christ, His light will shine through us, and He will purify us of sin and keep us from shame. This is the power of our Lord, this is the promise of Christ Jesus. Let us be, as His children, walking blameless in our lives and turning over our hearts to Him. Receive His forgiveness and openly confess all sin that enters our lives and walk not in our own pride, but being boastful of the work that Christ is doing in our lives as we become renewed daily and know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
