“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are assembled in My name, there I am in their midst.”
Matthew 18:19–20, MEV
What power there is in our coming together in agreement and working together in unity. God has given us a great capacity as those created in His image to utilize our talents to do something together that none of us could do well on our own. We can see our propensity for good and evil as we see the great things that have been done through the tapestry of history. Biblically, we see the building of the Tower of Babel and the temple in Jerusalem. We see remnants of great projects done for good and for evil throughout the world and the horrors that have been achieved when human progress did not consider the consequences that may come from certain actions. Our Lord calls us to come together in unity of spirit as we serve Him and seek His will in our lives. As we come together and unite our spirits in prayer our Lord knits our hearts together to become one heart beating in unison with His heart. Our Lord desires us to gather together and pray with one another in regular community as He seeks to continually have our hearts realigned with His and not with the world around us. The pulse of society is changed as more hearts are unified with our Lord carry His heartbeat out and the words and will of our Lord are proclaimed to the ends of the earth so all may come to know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
