Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV
Change can be slow. Sometimes so much so that it may not be perceivable quickly in the day-to-day of life. Paul reminds us to be mindful that our work for Him is not only important, but also to hold onto the faith and not be moved. This is the process of our faith. We are reminded to find the joy in the little things we may notice changing in the lives of others. Of course, there will be times of distress, and people will not always react as we would like. We are being reminded to remain steadfast and persevere in what we know we are being called to do. Instead of becoming frustrated, take moments to pray and listen quietly for God’s reply. God wants us to remain faithful in our times of reflection and to rest in Him. Noah waited for many years before He began the work of building the Ark, and this work was carried out for over a century. God’s calling on our lives is to be fulfilled in His timing, and He wants us to keep on keeping on, knowing that He will lead us into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
