There are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of ministries, and yet the same Lord. There are various kinds of activity, but the same God, who produces all of them in everyone. Each person is given a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
1 Corinthians 12:4–7, EHV
Spiritual gifts are God’s thing. He wants us to have various gifts to better serve Him. These gifts are not meant to make us look better or make us wealthier. He doesn’t want us to promote ourselves and our agendas but to glorify Him and honor His name. Not everyone will have the same gifts, but each person can work better together utilizing those gifts to build up His kingdom and bring more into His saving grace. The purpose of these gifts is for the betterment of humanity. As we come together, united in His gifts, we are able to reflect our Lord’s glory out and, since each is working in his or her gifting, the work we do will be tireless. The energy exuded from faithful followers of Christ exercising their gifts in unison for the promotion of the Gospel is greater than we can ever imagine, and the impact that it would have on our communities is beyond our wildest dreams. It is these gifts that God gives and calls us to use that draw others to the Lord and is our calling as disciples as He prepares us to move out in our apostolic faith and leads us into fully knowing His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
